Provincial Government Consultations on Affordable Housing

July 21, 2009 (All day) - July 22, 2009 (All day)

The Ontario government has launched a series of consultations across the province. The government is promising to develop a comprehensive plan to ensure everyone has "adequate, suitable and affordable housing." Although this is a rather grand claim, these consultations are an opportunity for all tenants across the province to tell the government what is important to us.

The Federation is calling for a huge increase in the supply of affordable non-profit housing.   We also need to halt the ever increasing rents in Ontario by bringing in a rent freeze and ending vacancy de-control. Together we are strong!

We encourage all tenants to provide feedback in these consultations.  You can register to attend one of the sit-down sessions, or you can provide written comments.  For more information or to register, see the government website by clicking here.
